Porcelain face mask bears a long cultural history in China, from ancient to modern China today. However, as the porcelain manufacturing were introduced in Europe, the western porcelain manufactures and producers introduced various artifacts in porcelains. Chinese Porcelain Face Masks are used in Nuoxi, an ancient ritual conducted in the nearby temples dedicated to exorcist gods during the New Years Eve festivities. As the bearer of the good luck culture during the Chinese New year celebration the face masks are used also to make the particular statements of joy, fortune and prosperity, whilst the dancers masquerade and represent deities to demonstrate the power of the gods and chase away evil spirits. This face mask in Family Verte style displays the highest standard paintings in colour in underglaze. Ideal for collectors and museums.
