This is an excellent piece of Kutani bowl in multi CYAN colour hand painted features with cobalt blue in underglaze. Ohter colours are probably of enamel however, the characteristics showing the water colour nature. Kutani porcelains were produced in the mountain village of Kutani in Kaga province under the patronage and support of the Maeda family, which ruled Kaga province in the early Edo period. This excellent piece of colourful Kutani bowl is produced during the Meiji period of Japan. It is believed to have been produced for export purposes to Europe in the 19th Century. Today it reveals the essence of an antique porcelain piece with enough value for preservation by institution such as museums and private collector.
